Genes are genes. Genes do not care whether the dog is mixed or purebred.

Marcia Said:

is polycystic ovaries an inherited genetic disease?

We Answered:

Heya,
Unfortunately, researchers are still unsure of what causes PCOS. It is known that there are variations in many of the hormones associated with PCOS, but it is not know what causes those differences. Currently, many physicians believe that there is a genetic link, however no distinct abnormality has been found.
So basically they believe there is a genetic link but no distinct abnormality can be found so therefore they cant say either way for sure whether it is genetically inherited or not.
If you have any more questions your doctor could answer this for you either way.
I hope i helped
x

Maureen Said:

Why are most genetic diseases inherited as recessive rather than dominants?

We Answered:

Well, when a disease is recessive it has a greater potential to survive in a population since it is possible for people to be carriers (heterozygous) for the disease but not actually have it. This means that it can be passed on from generation to generation without 'killing off' the people who are allowing the disease to survive. If a disease is dominant, that means that there are no carriers--you either have the disease or don't. This will likely result in death or infertility of the people with the disease and the disease is not passed on and therefore doesn't survive in the population
